One additional death and 16 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Saturday by the Ministry of Health.

Minister Terrence Deyalsingh at a media conference on Saturday stated that with the current infection rate of 30 to 50 cases per day, the country can expect approximately one death per day.

However he says this can be reduced because the burden of fatalities are borne by the elderly, mainly those with hypertension and diabetes. He is urging persons to treat their elderly relatives with extra care to protect them against the virus.
