Officials agree: Legislative arrangements needed for removal of street dwellers

    Several government, law enforcement and health officials have agreed that legislative arrangements must be put in place regarding voluntary and involuntary removal of street dwellers.

    A meeting was recently held and included Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, Port of Spain Mayor Joel Martinez and Police Commissioner Gary Griffith, among others.

    Recommendations were made and it was also agreed that there must also be focus on a continuum of care and providing the necessary facilities and services.

    A number of technical meetings will follow in a bid to ensure that tasks outlined are undertaken, sustained and monitored.
