Officer to appear in court for misbehaviour in public office

A police officer who allegedly slapped a man six years ago will stand trial for misbehaviour in public office and perverting the course of public justice.

The Trinidad Express reported that PC Richard Kishore is alleged to have slapped Terrence Augustine in Claxton Bay on Independence Day 2012.

A short video recording of the incident went viral online.

The officer charged the civilian with assaulting him, resisting arrest and using insulting language, however these matters have since been discontinued.
