The leader of a political party is calling for the army’s purpose to be reexamined to allow them to assist police in the fight against crime.
Mr Nirvan Maharaj, head of the National Solidarity Assembly, believes the whole of T&T has become a hotspot for criminals who unleash what he calls a “reign of terror.”
He believes the army should be considered as an option to help in curbing crime.
Mr Maharaj is also demanding more from the Police Service.
Mr Maharaj also reiterated his call for an extraordinary sitting of Parliament to focus on crime and where the whip is removed allowing all members to speak based on conscience rather than party lines.
