T&T’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier against Guyana on March 25th will not be played here unless the players are able to quarantine beforehand.
During today’s Health Ministry briefing, Sport Minister Shamfa Cudjoe said the TT Football Association had applied for approval to have the match played in T&T.
She says a CPL type of quarantine bubble was explored, however there has been a major sticking point: quarantine for players.
The Minister also outlined the proposal made regarding the match, which she says was of concern to the CMO.
The options are: to bring the players in with time quarantine beforehand, push the match to a later date to allow proper quarantine, or to play the game on a neutral ground in region.
She warns however that Government will not bend on the quarantine requirement.
The most likely possibility may playing the match in Curacao.
