The swearing-in of Senator Garvin Simonette as Public Administration Minister has been cancelled “in light of new information.”
This update comes from the Office of the Prime Minister, which says the PM will take temporary responsibility for the Ministry until a new appointment is made “shortly.”
Mr Simonette was supposed to be sworn in at 2pm.
He was set to replace Marlene McDonald as Minister after she was charged with several offences of conspiracy to defraud the Government and money laundering.
Local reports suggest that Mr Simonette was arrested for drunk driving in 2014 in the US.
103FM News checked the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office website and found that one “Garvin Simonette” was in fact charged with “DUI Alcohol or Drugs.”
