The new T&T one dollar and updated 50 dollar polymer notes became legal tender on Monday and are now in circulation.

All notes, including the five dollar, ten dollar, twenty dollar and 100 dollars are now polymer material, carrying new advanced security features.

The Central Bank says all of the new notes, except for the 100 dollar note will continue to co-circulate with the existing cotton notes until at least the end of this year.

At that time, it says a decision will be taken on demonetisation of the old cotton notes.
