Roman Catholics in T&T are being encouraged to visit cemeteries at various times for All Souls’ Day on Monday and on other alternative days in November.
The Archdiocese of Port of Spain says this is to avoid a large volume of traffic at cemeteries which would exceed the maximum for public gatherings at this time.
On this day, it is customary for persons to visit the graves of loved ones who have passed on and to light candles and offer prayers.
Meanwhile, Municipal Police officers will be deployed across all public cemeteries for All Saints Day and All Souls’ Day to ensure persons adhere to the COVID-19 regulations.
As such, the Minister of Local Government is urging those who are visiting cemeteries to wear their masks as well as to ensure social distancing and limit gatherings to 10 or less.
