MP Tancoo tells gov’t: Fully proclaim procurement law

A UNC MP is calling on government to fully proclaim procurement legislation to help address the issue of suspicious financial transactions.

Mr Dave Tancoo, in a media release, notes that the Finance Minister told Parliament of a reported 958 suspicious transaction picked up by the Financial Intelligence Unit at the end of September 2022.

These activities have a total monetary value of $1.9 billion.

The Oropouche West MP believes the procurement legislation is designed to help prevent the occurrence of some of the crimes facing the FIU.

He is calling on Minister Colm Imbert to fully proclaim the law to address both the FIU’s concerns as well as corruption.
