An Opposition MP believes citizens are protesting less because they are “fearful of opposing” Government.
Dr Suruj Rambachan, current MP for Tabaquite, claims the country faces economic stagnation, growing poverty levels and rampant crime.
However, he notes that the population has not been protesting as they did during the five-year tenure of the People’s Partnership.
Dr Rambachan says the public is also being distracted from issues by “side shows”, one of which he believes is the decriminalization of marijuana.
The MP notes that people are waiting for their opportunity to strike back in line with their democratic rights.
