MP questions stats given for online education

Cumuto/Manzanilla MP Dr Rai Ragbir is disputing the claim that 90% of local students are accessing education online.

This figure was given by Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly during the Budget Debate in the Parliament.

Dr. Ragbir questions that figure, and is calling on the Minister to publicly reveal the data used to arrive at that conclusion.

He believes it is far from the truth, saying that many students do not have access to internet connectivity and devices to facilitate on-line learning.

In his constituency, he says he is assisting 20 Primary and 3 Secondary schools with the copying of school assignments and other learning material.

To do so, he says they have leased a heavy-duty copier together with toner and paper, “without any input from the Ministry of Education”.
