Barataria/San Juan MP Saddam Hosein is calling on WASA to address a water shortage in his area.
According to Mr Hosein, residents in several parts of San Juan, Barataria and El Socorro have not had water for over one month.
He adds that a numerous complaints have been made, with no relief.
According to the MP, the situation seriously inconveniences children who are at home as a result of the closure of schools, and creates an environment that is not conducive to learning.
He says it also places additional financial burdens on businesses, as they are forced to source water privately and pay exorbitant amounts for truck-borne water.
He believes however that the biggest impact is on the fight against COVID-19, since no water means persons cannot wash their hands regularly as is recommended.
He is now calling on the Public Utilities Minister to act swiftly to rectify the situation.
