MP calls for increased security after attack on Pasea family


    St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen is calling for increased security, following an attack on a Pasea family.

    The MP says a mother was at home bathing her baby around 7:15pm on Wednesday, when a bandit allegedly entered the house, and demanded valuables.

    A relative heard the commotion and attempted to secure the house, however two other bandits who were outside shot through a window, reportedly injuring three members of the family.

    The bandits escaped.

    Ms Ameen says she first became personally acquainted with this family when she began serving as Councillor for Valsayn South/ Carapo in 2003.

    She adds that the incident has left the community traumatized.

    In addition to calling for better resources for officers, she says the National Security Minister and Attorney General must move with speed to approve non-lethal weapons for citizens.
