Moruga man sentenced to 18-months’ hard labour over robbery


    A 25-year-old Moruga man will spend 18 months behind bars with hard labour after appearing in court over a robbery.

    Kareem Hilare was charged after investigations into an incident on January 9th 2021.

    On that day, a 59-year-old man reported that he was selling ice-cream from his vehicle when he was stopped by a man along Mandingo Road, Princes Town.

    During this time, three other men, one armed with a gun, emerged from an abandoned house and robbed the salesman of his cell phone and wallet with the $3,800 he earned that day.

    The men then escaped on foot however, following investigations, a suspect was arrested and positively identified by the victim.

    Police are searching for the other three suspects.
