Bad weather is expected to continue tomorrow as the Met Office has issued a second Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert ending at 6pm on May 5th.
The original alert was supposed to end at 6pm today but the latest update states that while light rain is expected tonight, the intensity is forecast to increase in the morning.
Tomorrow, there is a medium chance of isolated thunderstorms but a high potential for intermittent, moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day.
It notes that this increases the risk for localized flooding and can exacerbate impacts from today’s rainfall.
The Met Office says river levels in the main river courses are contained at this time but there is the likelihood that tributaries and smaller river courses can overflow their banks.
Today’s rainfall has caused flooding in various parts of T&T, including Sangre Grande, Penal and Rio Claro.
