The NGO Wildlife and Environmental Protection of T&T has a mixed take on the budget.
WEPTT welcomes the review on Forestry and Wildlife Conservation and hopes the resulting information is put to good use.
It also welcomes the imminent ban on the import of extruded polystyrene foam, or Styrofoam.
The group would however like to see a total ban on Styrofoam and eventually on single use plastics as well.
It also wanted to see a larger budgetary allocation to the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, so that Forest Management and Wildlife Conservation could be improved.
WEPTT says besides agriculture being necessary for food security and development, forest officers and game wardens also need better resources to do their jobs.
