Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan and National Security Minister Stuart Young visited the Piarco Airport yesterday to get a firsthand look at the existing security mechanisms.
They were accompanied by representatives from the Airports Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority.
A media release from the Transport Ministry says the visit focused on current security methods with a view to enhance and improve all features.
It made particular mention of the Airports Authority, manager of T&T’s Airports, which it says is committed to ensuring safe and secure aviation operations for the benefit of all stakeholders.
The Ministry says the Authority was recently recognized by the Airports Council International for its contribution in helping airports around the world achieve excellence in safety and security by promoting the need for regulatory compliance and adherence to international best practice.
