The Ministry of National Security has sought to formalize existing security arrangements with energy sector companies.
It follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Minister Stuart Young and various stakeholders yesterday.
The agreement also aims to strengthen relations by providing a framework for sharing security related information and bolster cooperation and safeguard the sector from threats it faces.
The MOU is a product of the Energy Sector Security Initiative (ESSI), a Public-Private Sector Partnership.
It was established with the principal focus on critical energy infrastructure protection by creating a sustainable mechanism to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from all possible threats and vulnerabilities which have the potential to disrupt Trinidad and Tobago’s energy industry.
