Minister wants Denominational Boards to help upkeep schools

Education Minister Anthony Garcia wants Denominational Boards to take more responsibility for ensuring their schools are up to standard.

It follows the issues being faced by two Anglican schools since the start of the new school year.

He says while the Ministry conducts repairs to schools, they are engaging the Dean of Denominational Boards regarding sharing the responsibility of building maintenance.

Meanwhile, Mr. Garcia says they have identified a vacant UTT building to house pupils of the Carapichaima Anglican Primary School

With regard to the Fyzabad Anglican Secondary School, he says the central block has been deemed unfit for use, and new accommodations are being sought to house some students.

Also, the Minister says strange things are happening regarding water leaks at the Couva West Secondary School, but he stopped short of calling it sabotage.
