Minister: LED bulbs arriving at the end of August

Free LED bulbs promised to citizens by the Government in the last budget, are expected to arrive in the country at the end of August, after which distribution will begin.

This update comes a little over nine months after the initiative was first announced.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the electrification of 30 households at Samuel Cooper Road, Fifth Company, Public Utilities Minister Fitzgerald Hinds says suppliers of the LED bulbs were selected based on competitive tendering.

The Minister of Finance last year promised to replace all incandescent bulbs to energy-efficient ones in 400,000 households, free of charge.
