Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh insists there is nothing to fear, as the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines begins today.
Officials will be administering doses to front-line health care workers, from a batch of 2,000 acquired recently from Barbados.
Concern remains in the public domain about the safety of the vaccine, however Mr Deyalsingh says the statistics send a strong message.
Speaking during today’s Health Ministry briefing, Mr Deyalsingh adds that members of the Government and other essential workers will be vaccinated at a later date.
Also speaking was Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram explains why two doses of the Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine is needed.
The vaccine will be given to persons 18-years-old older, with no upper age limit.
