The Met Office is officially declaring the start of the 2023 Wet Season.
It says a Tropical Wave currently affecting the country has produced measurable rainfall accumulations in both Trinidad and Tobago to signal the beginning of the season.
The Met Office adds this wave will continue to affect T&T as the day progresses, with the most enhanced weather remaining over eastern offshore areas.
Over the weekend, there will be an increased potential for showers and isolated thunderstorms across the country.
The Met Office expects near normal to slightly wetter conditions for the first half of the wet season, followed by near normal to slightly drier conditions.
Meanwhile, the next Tropical Wave being tracked by the Met Office is forecast to pass early next week.
It reminds that the Atlantic Hurricane Season starts from June 1st and ends on November 30th, 2023.
