Additional phone lines are being added to facilitate the number of calls from persons interested in getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
The national roll out began yesterday, however there have been complaints of long wait times to book an appointment, or in some cases, a lack of access via phone.
Principal Medical Officer, Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards, acknowledged the challenges today.
She adds that in addition to extra phone-lines, the Ministry is looking to establish an online appointment system.
Phase 1 of the vaccination roll out focuses on frontline health care workers and persons over 60 years with non-communicable diseases.
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says 1,153 COVID-19 shots were administered yesterday across the country.
