Maxi operators claim “unfair practices and corruption” in issuing of PBR passes

Red Band Maxi Taxi operators are calling on the Works Minister to address what they say are unfair practices and corruption in the issuing of Bus Route Passes.

103FM News spoke with Brenton Knights, a former Vice-President of the Route 2 Maxi Taxi Association, who was due to participate in a protest outside the Ministry’s Head Office this morning.

He says the action has been temporarily put on hold, but reminds that this is not the first demonstration for this issue.

Back in July, a number of operators gathered outside the Ministry, complaining about the lack of permits being issued.

Some claimed they have been on the waiting list for as long as five years.

Mr Knights says while the Works Minister himself has expressed concern as well, he has failed to respond to their letters or agree to a meeting with them on the matter.
