Man shot and killed by police


    One man has been shot and killed by police in Santa Cruz.

    Around 3:50am yesterday, officers went to a small wooden structure along La Sargesse Road, in search of a suspect who had evaded capture on October 2nd.

    According to the TTPS, they found three occupants lying on a mattress.

    A woman with a baby responded to instructions and was ushered out of the room.

    The man, identified as Shaquille Morris, allegedly refused to comply instead drawing a pistol and firing in the direction of the officers.

    The officers returned fire, hitting the suspect several times about his body.

    He was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

    During the October 2nd incident, police reportedly recovered two high-powered rifles and secured warrants for the man’s arrest for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
