Man on trial for Carenage murder; teen due in court after Sangre Grande killing


    Two persons, one aged 17, are before judges in connection with two separate murders.

    The teen is charged with the murder of John Bocage who was stabbed near a bar on the Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grade on November 23rd 2018.

    He was expected in court today.

    Separately, 31 year old Miguel Roberts of Carenage has been committed to stand trial for the murder of 39 year old Nekyon Anthony Jones.

    Miguel Roberts faces two charges – murder and burglary

    The preliminary inquiry into that charge came to end on Monday at the Port of Spain Magistrate’s Court.

    Jones was killed by an armed intruder, who broke into his mother’s Benedictine Street home on Monday 18th September, 2017.

    When the victim saw his eventual killer, he fled, but the man chased him into the street and shot him several times in the back.

    Jones died at hospital.

    Roberts is also charged with the burglary of Anthony’s mother, Maureen.
