Man charged for murder of Jamaican national


    A Laventille man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a Jamaican national.

    In the incident on December 16th, 2020, 46-year-old Neil Johnson, originally from May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica, was at the promenade in Port of Spain in the company of another man.

    They were approached by an armed assailant who announced a hold-up, and fired shots at them before running off.

    Officers apprehended the gunman and recovered his weapon, while Johnson was taken to hospital to get treatment for gunshot wounds.

    He died the same day.
