Man arrested for smoking weed while driving, in the presence of a child

A 39-year-old San Juan man has been arrested for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of marijuana, and exposing a child to a dangerous drug.

During an anti-crime exercise at Pashley Street, Laventille yesterday evening, police stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer after they noticed the driver smoking an unusually long cigarette.

There was a little boy in the backseat.

Despite small amounts of marijuana now being legal, it is illegal to smoke it in public, and to do so in the presence of a child.
