Man arrested for disorderly behaviour

A 45-year-old man has been arrested for disorderly behaviour and illegal vending.

Yesterday, municipal police officers were on patrol along Coldatina Avenue in San Juan, when they saw a man on the roadway with a trolley of pineapples, soliciting sales.

The officers informed the man that it was an offence to offer for sale any agriculture produce with 1.5 km of the public market.

He reportedly complied with a request to move, only to shift to the southern side of the San Juan Market, where he continued to offer his goods for sale.

When approached again, he began gesticulating and is alleged to have said “wham like you cah spell, I done make jail, 12 years already, dis is small ting, anytime all yuh leave I coming back.”

The accused, Peru Rajcoomar of Maraj Street, Quarry Road, San Juan, was arrested for disorderly behaviour and offering for sale agriculture produce within 1.5 km of a Public Market.

He was granted $1,000 bail and is expected to appear at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on May 3rd.
