Local Government Ministry assessing emergency response plans

The Local Government Ministry is assessing emergency response plans as a precaution as it continues to monitor Tropical Storm Gonzalo.
No Watch or Warning has been issued for T&T, however the National Hurricane Centre expects this country to receive total rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches.

The Ministry says it is keeping an eye on Gonzalo, with the municipal corporations assessing readiness, including evacuation routes.

It says each Municipal Corporation has identified a number of locations that can serve as emergency shelters, with COVID-19 precautions to be taken.

In the event that a shelter is activated, the public will be informed.

It warns however that there are no facilities available at the moment to treat with pets, and is urging pet owners to plan ahead in terms of accommodations for their animals.
