KPB tells gov’t: Don’t sell state assets without implementing procurement legislation

The UNC is renewing its call for procurement legislation to be implemented before government sells any state asset.

Speaking at the party’s virtual report last night, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar reminds that the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery and NP gas stations are up for sale while the Port of Port of Spain is set for privatization.

However, she notes that years after it was passed under the UNC government, procurement law is still not being implemented.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar claims she is not the only one alarmed about the lack of implementation, referring to similar concerns raised by private sector groups.
