There are more questions than answers following today’s announcement of the rejection of Patriotic Energies’ refinery bid, according to the Opposition Leader.
In a media release, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar questions why Patriotic was chosen as preferred bidder if it had “no set means of financing.”
She called promises to “place the refinery in the hands of the people” baseless election gimmicks.
She also believes that for the past two years, government has given false hope to ex-Petrotrin workers.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar warns that the energy sector is in meltdown with the continued closure of the refinery and what she calls a “crisis” at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate.
