The world is commemorating International Anti-Corruption Day today and T&T’s Opposition Leader believes it is ironic that amendments to procurement law were passed in the Senate.
In a message sent today, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar reiterated her opinion that last night’s changes have rendered the Procurement Act “toothless”.
She also noted that, according to the United Nations, the COVID-19 pandemic can create opportunities for corruption.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar warned that T&T continues to slide down the Corruption Perception Index, sitting at 85th.
