UNC leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has called on supporters to not let their disappointment over Monday’s election results and blatant discrepancies in the electoral process get the better of them.
In a Facebook post today, she urges persons to not “foster any type of hate, divisiveness and otherwise unproductive discourse on social media or elsewhere”.
She says the “nation’s longstanding tradition of harmony, tolerance and unity should not be jeopardized at this time”.
The UNC leader urged all citizens to try their best to work past what she says is a “very painful time in our nation’s history”.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader also criticized the Prime Minister, after she says he “questionably attacked” the UNC’s request for recounts in five marginal constituencies.
She says the call for a recount is a “valid electoral process”.
