Justin Trudeau’s party takes early lead in Canadian elections

Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party have seemingly retained power in Canada, but they’re heading towards being a minority government after Monday’s polls in the North American country.

According to results late on the day, the Liberals look likely to occupy the most seats in Parliament, giving them and Trudeau, a second term.

Trudeau would have swept the polls the last time around, but during his term he had been dogged by a couple scandals.

According to a Bloomberg.com report, Trudeau’s party is unlikely to reach the 170 seats needed for a majority, therefore he will have to work with at least one opposing party on an issue-by-issue basis to stay in power.
