A judge has dismissed a legal application seeking to postpone the upcoming PNM Internal Election.
The action was filed by candidates Karen Nunez-Teshiera, Kenneth Butcher and Victor Phillip, who raised concerns over several issues, including the intention to hold the election over the course of three days.
Passing judgement yesterday was Justice Devindra Rampersad who reportedly said while there was a legitimate issue to be tried, no evidence was presented to show the potential of an unfair election.
He added that if after the election there were concerns over its legality, further recourse could be explored.
Voting for the PNM’s Internal Election is set to take place on November 26th and 27th as well as December 4th.
Mrs Nunez-Teshiera is one of the candidates going up against Dr Keith Rowley for leadership of the party.
