Jamaican who fled custody at Piarco Airport, held at Grand Bazaar after buying food


    One week after he casually walked out of the Piarco International Airport, despite being denied entry, Jamaican national O’Shane Bailey has been held.

    The 29 year old was arrested yesterday afternoon in Grand Bazaar just after buying food at the mall.

    According to the Trinidad Express, police from the Stolen Vehicles Unit were conducing enquiries in the area and had cause to go into the mall around 4pm.

    They observed a man who matched Bailey’s description walking near Linda’s Bakery.

    Police challenged the man who admitted his identity, but remained silent afterward.

    Bailey who is a Jamaican music engineer walked out of the Piarco Airport on May 31st.

    He had previously been denied entry to this country by Immigration, having arrived on a Caribbean Airlines flight from Jamaica, and was placed in a waiting room and told he would be sent back home.

    But sometime later, CCTV footage captured Bailey walking out of the room and through the Duty Free Section, before joining the Customs line and cleared by an officer.

    CCTV footage also captured the man walking through the car park of the compound.
