Local Government Minister Kazim Hosein is assuring that drainage upgrade works being performed on Dumfries Road, La Romaine will be completed later today, in time for the reopening of the new school term.
The Minister visited the project earlier this week and says when completed, it will ensure greater safety for pedestrians, a channel for the free-flow of water from the roadway into a definite drainage, which will decrease street flooding, as well as ensure the protection of nine property boundaries.
The Minister is also encouraging residents to communicate issues affecting their communities with their respective MPs.
He adds that this project was one of the proposals made by San Fernando West MP Faris Al Rawi, on behalf of his burgesses, which was then passed to the Local Government Ministry for assessment.
Councillor for the Palmiste/Hermitage area Mr Roland Hall was also present and thanked the Minister as well as the Chairman of the Rural Development Company for executive this project in a timely manner, since it was much needed by citizens.
