Heritage says hunters are stopped when they are close to hydrocarbon storage areas

Hunters have been hunting close to large hydrocarbon storage areas and, according to Heritage Petroleum Limited, were stopped for their own safety.

This statement from the company comes after several hunters were barred from land it owns with hunters complaining they were accosted by armed guards.

Heritage says hunters have been seen near its tank farms and were asked to stop to protect employees and the hunters as they were next to large hydrocarbon storage areas.

It assures it has been engaged in talks with authorities and hunters with a view to promoting safety.

The company also clarifies that hunting was never allowed in the Forest Reserve and Grand Ravine areas as has been reported.
