Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh received his 2nd dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine this morning.
The Minister got the jab at the Mass Vaccination site in the Paddock at the Queens Park Savannah.
He received his first shot on April 6th at the St. Joseph Enhanced Health Facility.
Meanwhile persons are urged to keep appointments for their second doses.
The call comes from Eastern Regional Health Authority CEO Ronald Tsoi-a-Fatt, as he spoke during this morning’s Health briefing.
He says persons who received their first shot will be contacted regarding a date for their second jab.
In cases where persons missed or did not receive a call, he says they can visit their designated vaccination center between eight to nine weeks after their first shot.
The ERHA meanwhile has published certain details regarding the administration of 2nd doses:
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people are generally considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine.
It adds that while this guidance applies to COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use by the US FDA such as Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, it can also be applied to COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use by the World Health Organization e.g. AstraZeneca/Oxford.
