No changes are being recommended at this time for COVID-19 policies, as according to the Health Minister, T&T’s first case of the UK variant has been “successfully contained.”

Mr Terrence Deyalsingh made this statement this morning at a media conference called due to yesterday’s confirmation of the more transmissible variant in a repatriated national from the UK.

The minister’s assurance of the variant being contained was backed up by Epidemiologist Dr Avery Hinds.

Meanwhile, CMO Dr Roshan Parasram spoke to the issue of the other persons who would have come back on the same repatriation flight.

Minister Deyalsingh also responded to questions about the reopening of school in light of the variant.

Minister Deyalsingh also said it is crucial for the public to follow current guidelines.
