The Health Minister, Chief Medical Officer and Attorney are meeting today however the nature of the discussions has not been revealed.
The Minister and CMO were absent from this morning’s Health Ministry media briefing and PMO Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards revealed that they were meeting with the AG.
When questioned further, she stated that any details would be shared by the Minister, CMO or AG.
Meanwhile, giving an update on COVID-19 hospitalizations, Dr Abdool-Richards said occupancy of the parallel healthcare system is at 33%.
In fact, she noted that today is first day since August 14th that the number of patients in the system is less than 200.
Also speaking at the briefing was Epidemiologist Dr Avery Hinds who stated that the percentage of tests coming back positive for COVID-19 has decreased.
However, he warned that there are other viruses circulating, especially influenza.
Dr Hinds also noted that the flu doesn’t necessarily stick to the October to May season but with that period around the corner, there could be an increase in cases.
