HDC warns of scammers

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is urging persons to be on the alert for scammers claiming to be employees that can assist with housing allocation.

It believes some may use the current election period to prey on the vulnerability and anxiety of innocent individuals, and is encouraging all citizens to be vigilant.

The HDC says all activities related to assessment interviews and allocation of housing are conducted by HDC officers at the HDC’s South Quay Office, and that all bona fide HDC employees wear HDC identification cards with their names, position and department.

It also reminded that any and all payments for houses can only be made at the Cashier’s unit in full view of the cameras and that the HDC does not employ “agents” to operate on its behalf.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of an HDC housing scam is urged to contact the company’s Security Department: 612 7432 ext 4800/4801, or make a report to the TTPS’ Fraud Squad.
