The MET Service has extended its Hazardous Seas Alert.
The yellow level alert was due to end at 5pm today, but will now continue until 11am on Wednesday 2nd January.
The MET Service says strong low level winds continue to agitate sea conditions to the North and East of Trinidad and around Tobago.
Waves are near 2.5m, occasionally reaching 3.0m in open waters, resulting in hazardous conditions nearshore.
Long period swells are also creating hazardous nearshore conditions.
Persons are urged to monitor sea conditions, exercise caution in coastal waters, avoid entering the sea if unnecessary and to be alert for large waves and dangerous currents.
