Akeel Mitchell and Richard Chatoo have been found guilty of the murder of six-year-old Sean Luke Lumfai on March 26th 2006.
According to the Trinidad Express, the verdict was delivered just after 1pm today by Justice Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds in the judge-alone trial.
She was satisfied that the State was able to provide sufficient, compelling and cogent evidence for the two to be convicted of the capital offence.
Because the two were minors when the crime was committed, they will not face the death sentence.
Instead, the Express report says their attorneys will have to present their plea in mitigation in an attempt to urge the court to exercise leniency in passing sentence.
Chatoo was 16-years-old at the time, while Mitchell was 13.
They will be sentenced on August 23rd.
Little Sean Luke died from massive internal bleeding and organ damage after he was sodomised with a cane stalk in a field in Orange Valley Trace, Couva.
