Griffith: Blanchisseuse station to be nightly police/army base

The Blanchisseuse Police Station will become a base during the night for joint police and army patrols aimed at locking down the North Coast.

This is according to Police Commissioner Gary Griffith, days after 103.1FM News reported that the station was being repurposed, instead of closed down as claimed by residents.

Mr Griffith says there will always be an officer at the station to facilitate reports from the public and investigators will be assigned from the nearest station or unit.

Residents are also urged to use the TTPS’ online platforms which the Commissioner says is more efficient.

During the day, the Blanchisseuse station will house the Police Youth Club.

Mr Griffith says there will also be an increase in police presence on the North Coast and 24-hour presence in the Blanchisseuse community.

The Top Cop has already spoken with the area’s Member of Parliament and plans to meet residents early next week.
