Government intends to write to the US Department of Justice, asking for an investigation into the leasing of a helicopter by a US company to T&T in 2014.
During a media briefing today, National Security Minister Stuart Young said over the last few months he noticed a number of “red flags” as it pertained to the agreement with Vertical Aviation.
They included the exorbitant cost to lease the helicopter, as well as an agreement not to terminate the contract.
Mr Young says the letter will be sent before the end of this week.
Vertical Aviation has taken T&T’s Government to court over the defaulting of payments.
According to reports, the helicopter has been left unused at Camp Cumuto for the past five years.
