Government pays over $4.3M to local SMEs for face masks


    Over $4.3 million has been paid to local small businesses for cloth face masks.

    This figure was revealed today by Finance Minister Colm Imbert who, in Parliament, stated that masks were bought at a flat rate of $10 each.

    A total of 436,400 masks have been produced and distributed under the project taken on by the National Insurance Property Development Company Limited.

    Meanwhile, Minister Imbert, responding to a question by an Opposition MP, stated that he has no knowledge that any of the business owners are relatives of government members.
