Grenades and bullets are among the contraband being found at the nation’s jail.

This was acknowledged today in the Senate by Attorney General Faris Al Rawi as he contributed to debate on The Miscellaneous Provisions (Law Enforcement Officers) Bill, 2019.

National Security Minister Stuart Young admitted that prison officers are sometimes involved getting contraband to inmates.

The bill also seeks to increase fines and penalties for persons who attack prison officers and their families.
