Gender Minister: If you know of family violence, report it

Ending family violence, including domestic violence, requires an all of society approach and not turning a blind eye.

This according to Gender and Child Affairs Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy who says the increase in domestic violence cases globally has been described as a pandemic within the COVID-19 pandemic.

She believes that turning a blind eye to cases has resulted in the demise of vulnerable persons on many occasions.

As such, the minister is calling on persons to report cases of violence in families to the toll-free, 24/7 National Domestic Violence Hotline, 800-SAVE, or the TTPS.

She says persons can also learn move about abuse, make time to check up on those around them, listen without judgement, pledge support for victims and help create a safety plan for them.
